Why Padel Player Exists

Padel Player is an independent Irish guide to padel gear and courts, helping new and improving players buy the right kit and find a court.

Padel exploded in Ireland faster than the advice around it. Most guides were written for Spain or the UK, quoted prices in pounds, or came from shops reviewing what they happened to stock. Padel Player exists to fill that gap: one place where Irish players can compare rackets and shoes across every brand, see Irish prices, and find somewhere to play.

Who is Padel Player for?

Mostly people in their first year or two of padel. Tennis and squash converts, friends who booked a court for a laugh and got hooked, parents buying a junior racket, couples starting together, and plenty of over-50s who found a racket sport they can actually enjoy again.

If you already play at a high level, you will still find useful comparisons, but we write for the player who wants a straight answer without wading through jargon.

What makes it different?

We are not a shop. We do not hold stock, so we have no reason to push one brand over another. We compare adidas, Bullpadel, Nox, HEAD, Babolat, Wilson, Siux, Dunlop and others side by side.

Prices are Irish. Product prices on our pages update automatically from Irish listings, so what you see is what you will pay, delivered to Ireland.

Courts are local. Our venue guides use the Padel Federation of Ireland's club listings and each venue's own published prices, with the date we checked.

What we will not do

We do not sell rankings, accept payment to include a product, or claim hands-on testing we have not done. If a page says a racket feels soft, that judgement comes from its published core and face materials and the research behind them, and we say so.

Who writes Padel Player?

Padel Player's guides are written and kept up to date by Tom Cunningham, an experienced padel player from Dublin. Every racket, shoe and venue Tom recommends goes through the process set out in how gear makes our shortlist, and he reads every correction, venue update and question sent through our contact page.

Where does our information come from?

Specifications come from brand pages and independent spec sheets, checked against each other. Rules come straight from the FIP Rules of Padel. Health and injury points come from sources such as the HSE and peer-reviewed research, not from forums.

You can read exactly how we shortlist products in how gear makes our shortlist, and how the site pays for itself in how Padel Player makes money.

Spotted something we got wrong?

Courts open, prices change and brands update rackets every season. If you know a venue we have missed or a detail that has changed, tell us and we will check it and update the page.
